Moth Trapping report for Sunday night, 19th February

A single, very fresh and very attractive Oak Beauty was the only highlight of a rather disappointing moth trapping. There were also 4 Chestnut, 2 each of March Moth, Spring Usher and Tortricodes alternella and single examples of Pale Brindled Beauty, Mompha jurassicella and Acleris ferrugana ; 8 species in total.

  • 1 Barn owl- flew dangerously close to cars across the A6182 opposite B&Q to the central embankment between the carriageways and perched on top of a small tree/shrub at 5.30pm. It was also seen in the same area yesterday at 5.45pm.
