We have five centres from which we can offer a variety of learning experiences, depending on what criteria you wish to meet.

Our centres are spread across Yorkshire, so hopefully there is one close to your school:

Whilst we try to offer as much of the full range of learning activities from each of our centres, in some cases due to location and space available we are only able to offer part of the programme. Therefore if there is a specific activity you are wishing to undertake please check the location information at the bottom of each learning activities page.

Living Seas Centre

Located amongst the stunning chalk cliffs of South Landing, Flamborough, the Living Seas Centre is the perfect place at which to discover our fascinating local marine wildlife. The centre itself boasts an indoor learning space for up to 30 children. A large screen for showing stunning images and video, alongside lots of props and displays make learning fun, engaging and interactive. Situated just a short walk from the Living Seas Centre is the wide, open shore of South Landing. Here pupils can discover life in rock pools, scour the shore for strandline treasures and learn about the impacts of marine litter.

There are toilets attached to the Living Seas Centre and ample parking for coaches (car parking controlled by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and charges apply). See the downloadable visiting information sheet at the bottom of this page for more information.

Pearson Park Wildlife Garden

Hidden away in the centre of Hull is Pearson Park Wildlife Garden.  With an amazing variety of habitats: including a meadow, woodland, and a pond, plus vegetable patches, herb gardens and a beehive.  All these provide a wide range of fun and interesting learning opportunities from pond dipping to mini-beasting.

A short distance from many local schools, we have large outdoor learning space, newly refurbished toilets and a small car park. Coaches can drop off groups round Pearson Park, and parking is available.

Potteric Carr Nature Reserve

Easily accessible and just on the outskirts of Doncaster, Potteric Carr Nature Reserve is an oasis for wildlife in a very urban environment. Covering over 200ha, the nature reserve comprises a mosaic of habitats, from woodland to wetland which is home to a great variety of wildlife. Potteric Carr boasts superb facilities with a well-equipped classroom, first-rate tearooms and toilets. Parking is plentiful, with space for coaches.

Several areas of the nature reserve have been designed with learning in mind, and the site is the perfect setting for activities including mini-beast hunts and pond dipping.

See the downloadable visiting information sheet at the bottom of this page for more information about how to get there and what to bring.

Spurn National Nature Reserve

Spurn National Nature Reserve is a ‘must see’ – this 3.5 mile sandy spit stretching out across the mouth of the Humber into the North Sea is one of Yorkshire’s finest remaining wildernesses, but is also an intriguing place in terms of the habitat offered.

Of particular interest to visiting groups are the beaches, sand dunes and mudflats from which a range of fascinating studies can be conducted.

Parking for coaches is available on site, whilst toilet facilities and a café is a short walk away.

Stirley Community Farm

Stirley Community Farm offers a newly renovated barn for teaching purposes, which sits amidst 250 acres of meadows that are home to grazing beef cattle, a food training garden, orchard and bee hives. The farm is perfectly set up to inspire people about the natural world right on their doorstep and provide them with the skills to grow their own food in a sustainable, wildlife-friendly way.

The Cre8 barn also provides visiting groups with the opportunity to harvest vegetables and salads from the training gardens and cook healthy and nutritious meals using them.

Visitors will find parking onsite, although coaches are recommended to drop parties off and park at nearby Castle Hill.
