7th Annual Food Fest Comes to Stirley Farm

Friday 22nd September 2017

Stirley Food Festival Stirley Food Festival

Delicious food, fresh veg grown on the farm, local crafts, live music and, of course, a beer tent.

Stirley Community Farm’s food festival has hit its seventh year and is still going strong. The free annual event on 30 September will give attendees a chance to sample fresh farm produce, including succulent beef burgers from the farm’s Shorthorn cattle, as well as showcasing local producers, craftspeople and musicians for a day full of delicious food and fun.

There's something for everyone to get involved in – listening to great local music, getting stuck into the kids activities or sampling some of the best local food and crafts.

This year’s extended event will run from 11am to 9pm and visitors can drop in at any time. Kid’s activities on the day include face painting, outdoor games, crafts and rides on a smoothie-making bike, while the 18+ crowd can enjoy the selection of wine, Yorkshire-brewed beer and specialty gin from the Tipsy Owl available in the drinks tent.

Stirley Community Farm, a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve, is a shining example of wildlife-friendly farming and provides people in the local area with healthy, freshly grown food. As well as producing vegetables and raising cattle, the farm also has an exciting calendar of events and provides training for young people.

Kara Jackson, Gateway Team Leader at Stirley Community Farm said: ‘The food festival is a fantastic event with something for everyone to get involved in – whether that’s listening to great local music, getting stuck into the kids activities or sampling some of the best food and craft that Yorkshire has to offer. It’s a brilliant chance to explore the farm and soak up the atmosphere so we really hope to see lots of people there on the 30th!’

Entry to the festival is free, although charges will apply for food, crafts and some activities. To find out more and for directions to the farm in Berry Brow, on the edge of Huddersfield, visit: http://www.ywt.org.uk/events/stirley-food-fest2017
