  • Transformation of Clifton Beck continues with help of local community

    Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and local people in Brighouse are working restore the ailing Clifton Beck, with the aim of turning it in to a wildlife haven. Focusing their efforts at three key sites, Trust employees and volunteers are improving woodland, creating green corridors for wild creatures and making a safe space for local nature lovers to experience the area.

  • Wildlife and rare ancient habitat SAVED from proposed Whitby holiday village development as proposal REJECTED

    *UPDATE* 07 September 2017: Development proposal REJECTED: Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Conservation Officer Sara Robin who has led on the Trust's objection to the proposal was present at the Planning meeting at which the decision to refuse permission for the development was made. On hearing the news Sara said: "Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is delighted that the Scarborough Borough Council Planning Committee has decided not to give planning permission for the holiday village development at The Raithwaite Estate. The development had the potential to be very damaging to Ancient Woodland, wildlife and the landscape of the North York Moors National Park and the Heritage Coast. We commend the Councillors' decision as they have recognised that nature matters and how we should be working to create a living landscape in North Yorkshire and not destroying it."
