Amazing Askham Bog

Askham Bog provides a green lung to south western York and is a valuable natural asset for local residents. Funding from Yorventure will help to boost wildlife and public access to this wonderful home for wildlife on the edge of York.

Fantastic Filey Dams

This project will directly help people access and enjoy this wonderful reserve with improved paths for wheelchairs and buggies, a pond dipping platform for schools and community groups and information boards to help identify wildlife and learn more about the reserve.

Grazing Animals Project

We currently graze 27 of our nature reserves, however this number is expected to rise in the coming year. Therefore this project is crucial in ensuring we have suitable grazing animals with which to carry out conservation grazing on our sites.

Livestock that we use include Hebridean sheep (see photo), Highland cattle, white park cattle and beef shorthorn.

Nethergill Farm

Nethergill Farm hope's to become the UK's first farm 'reserve', intent on creating a truly sustainable tourism concept based on farming, food and the environment.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust are working in partnership with the farm providing advice and holding a series of Wild Workshops .

River Tutt Restoration Project

Working with the local community, this project will aim to improve the water quality for wildlife and people in the region.

River Wiske Corridor

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is working along the River Wiske Corridor to address local flooding and water pollution issues, as well as to create new habitat for wildlife.

Stories in Stone

Stories in Stone is a Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) Project whose vision is to connect and coordinate the plans and actions of a range of public, private and community bodies to conserve, enhance and celebrate the unique historical and natural elements of the Inglebrough Dales landscape.

Walking with Wildlife

Twenty-five hand carved wooden way markers now lead visitors around Barlow Common Nature Reserve near Selby, and nature-inspired signage forms a trail around the woodland that used to be overlooked by visitors.

Yorkshire Peat Partnership

The Yorkshire Peat Partnership is leading in a massive programme of peat restoration. The project area is vast, covering parts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Nidderdale AONB, North York Moors National Park and areas of the South Pennines.
